Shipwrecked!
Pastor Allan Jones – Acts 27: 22-24 Part Two
Weathering a violent storm while fishing from an
inflatable raft in the Rocky
Mountains was a frightening experience for all involved. In many ways
this
experience reminds me of the challenges of daily life. The storms seem
to come out of nowhere, completely unexpected. Unaddressed issues or
relationships that have been uncared for suddenly become
uncontrollable. During these times we’re usually tempted to “jump
ship” or “bail out” on the people or situations at the eye of the
storm.
Often we do exactly that, we bail out on friendships,
jobs and even family
relationships because the storm just seems to powerful. The problem
is, when we give up, many people go down with the ship. There was a
time that the Apostle Paul was on a ship in a ferocious storm; there
the Lord spoke to him through an angel. He told him that “if everyone
on board would stay with the ship, they would all be delivered from
the storm”. It’s the same way in our lives. If we will resist the urge
to “bail out” during the storms and potential shipwrecks, we will see
many people delivered, set free, saved and touched by the power of
God. Whatever storm you’re facing, let me encourage you to stay with
the ship. Cry out to Lord Jesus and believe that He will deliver you
safely to shore. I can almost guarantee that you and the people in
your life will be blessed when the wind subsides. Thank you Jesus!
